Bishan 8 Swimming Lessons
Bishan 8 is a completed 99-year leasehold condominium at 61 and 63 Bishan Street 21, Singapore 574044 and 574045. Current project records verify 200 homes and communal swimming, wading and bubble pools.
This guide helps residents assess swimming lessons without confusing the private condominium pool with Bishan Swimming Complex or another nearby public facility. It does not promise instructor entry, exclusive use or a specific pool length.
Quick answer
Swimming lessons may be possible when Bishan 8’s current management permits the named instructor and the resident completes every visitor and coaching requirement. The coach must inspect the authorised water before recurring sessions.
Preserved project specifications identify a swimming pool, wading pool and bubble pool with water jets. These areas are not interchangeable, and no reviewed primary source establishes current dimensions, depths or paid-coach rules.
Verified development identity
The URA-derived residential inventory records Bishan 8 at postal codes 574044 and 574045. PropertyGuru maps these to 61 and 63 Bishan Street 21 and allocates 80 homes to the first block and 120 to the second, reconciling exactly to 200.
SRX and several current exact-development sources identify Bishan Properties, associated with Far East Organization, as developer; a 99-year lease from 1996; and completion in 2000.
PropertyGuru currently labels the tenure as freehold, conflicting with SRX and other project records. This page rejects that isolated label and uses the better-supported 99-year tenure. A parsed Far East commemorative record also appears to attach a 2008 completion year, but its surrounding extraction is unreliable and conflicts with transaction-era and project records supporting 2000.
Exact-name and public-pool safeguard
This page refers only to Bishan 8 at 61–63 Bishan Street 21. It does not describe Junction 8, Bishan Sports Centre, Bishan Swimming Complex, Bishan Loft, Bishan Point or another Bishan development.
Public access to Junction 8, surrounding paths or nearby sports facilities does not authorise entry to Bishan 8’s common property. Conversely, a condominium lesson booking does not provide access to public-pool programmes.
Multiple aquatic zones
Preserved project specifications identify a swimming pool, wading pool and bubble pool with water jets and a sail feature. SRX also corroborates swimming and wading pools.
The main swimming pool is the plausible venue for ordinary stroke instruction, subject to approval and assessment. The wading pool may support limited child familiarisation only when management permits its use and the coach verifies present depth, edges and sightlines.
The bubble pool contains water jets and should not be treated as normal stroke-training water. Jets, decorative features and specialised circulation can affect stability, visibility and supervision.
No verified current pool length, lane count, competition specification or uninterrupted teaching route is claimed. The instructor should measure usable water and adapt repetitions accordingly.
Management and visitor approval
Before booking, ask the current managing agent or MCST whether an external paid swimming instructor may enter. State the coach’s name, learner count, lesson format and proposed time accurately.
Confirm requirements for resident presence, advance registration, identity, qualifications, insurance, indemnities, equipment and group size. Ask whether lessons must avoid particular hours or aquatic zones.
Current by-laws, notices and security directions override project specifications and property portals. SwimmingClasses.sg cannot grant access or overrule management. If coaching is prohibited, the lesson cannot proceed at Bishan 8.
First-session pool assessment
Before recurring lessons begin, verify:
- the correct block entrance, visitor procedure and meeting point;
- approval for every coach, learner and accompanying person;
- the exact pool and section authorised for instruction;
- measured usable length, width and depth transitions;
- walls, edges, steps, ladders and recovery points;
- slopes, ledges, drains and underwater features;
- separation among swimming, wading and bubble water;
- effect of jets and the sail feature around the bubble pool;
- deck grip, drainage, glare and sightlines;
- resident traffic and maintenance periods;
- lightning shelter and emergency procedures; and
- rules for kickboards, floats, fins and other aids.
The coach should shorten drills, change the format or recommend another approved venue if conditions cannot safely support the learner’s needs.
Kids swimming lessons
Young beginners may practise safe entry and exit, bubbles, face immersion, supported balance, kicking and returning to a reachable wall. The selected water must suit the child’s height, confidence, communication needs and recovery ability.
School-age learners may progress to streamlining, freestyle and backstroke coordination, breaststroke timing, treading water and self-rescue habits. Repetitions should follow the measured route rather than an assumed pool length.
Parents should disclose relevant medical, sensory, behavioural or learning needs. Non-participating children require another responsible adult’s supervision near every aquatic zone.
Adult beginner and stroke coaching
Adult beginners can start with controlled exhalation, balance, floating, recovery to standing and short movement near a dependable wall. Nervous learners should progress gradually without forced submersion.
Water-confident adults may work on alignment, breathing rhythm, stroke efficiency, pacing and endurance. Drills should adapt to verified space and resident traffic.
Tell the instructor about injuries, mobility restrictions, medical considerations or difficult water experiences before the first session.
Ladies and female-instructor requests
Ladies may request a female swimming instructor for comfort, cultural preference, privacy or safeguarding. Matching depends on availability, Bishan coverage, schedule and authorised access.
The pools are communal and may be visible from homes or common areas. A female instructor does not create a women-only setting, reserve the water or guarantee privacy.
Private and small-group formats
One-to-one lessons provide focused feedback and flexible pacing. “Private lesson” describes the coaching arrangement, not exclusive pool use.
Small groups may suit siblings or compatible learners but must comply with estate limits and allow continuous supervision without obstructing residents. Different ages or abilities may require separate sessions.
Scheduling, weather and fees
Residents can propose weekday or weekend times after checking pool hours, security access, maintenance and busy periods. Outdoor lessons must stop during lightning warnings and unsafe weather. Agree beforehand how failed entry, crowding, water-quality concerns or weather affects make-up sessions.
Fees depend on duration, format, participant count, instructor match, travel and access requirements. No Bishan 8-specific rate is invented. Review the fees and rates guide and request a written quotation.
Water safety and SwimSafer
Condo lessons may build confidence, recovery skills, strokes and safer habits. Bishan 8 is not presented as an official SwimSafer assessment venue without separate programme, assessor and venue confirmation. Nearby Bishan Swimming Complex is a separate public venue.
Frequently asked questions

Sources and review note
Identity, addresses, unit allocation, tenure, completion and aquatic evidence were reviewed on 29 August 2026 using the URA-derived residential inventory, preserved project specifications, SRX, PropertyGuru and other exact-development records.
The 200-home two-block identity, 99-year tenure, 2000 completion and communal swimming/wading/bubble pools are supported. Conflicting tenure and completion labels are disclosed or rejected based on evidence quality. Current dimensions, condition, rules and paid-coach permission still require direct confirmation.
