Castle Green Swimming Lessons
Castle Green is a completed 664-home condominium along Yio Chu Kang Road. URA-derived data supports four residential addresses, while a Singapore Strata Titles Boards decision identifies Castle Green and MCST Plan 2178.
Residents may enquire about kids, adult, ladies, beginner, private or compatible small-group swimming lessons. Preserved site-plan imagery shows the residential blocks around a central swimming pool, but current approval and an on-site assessment remain essential.
Quick answer
Swimming lessons may be feasible when Castle Green management permits the named instructor and a resident arranges authorised entry. The central or main swimming pool is the first teaching candidate after an instructor verifies its route, depths, boundaries, exits and resident circulation.
No lane, quiet period or exclusive section is promised. Children's, fun, wading, jacuzzi, spa, feature, decorative and private water are excluded by default.
Four residential blocks and a fifth current address
The URA-derived row contains 481, 483, 485 and 487 Yio Chu Kang Road, with 664 homes. Preserved site-plan imagery also shows these four residential blocks around the central pool.
Some current project records add 489 Yio Chu Kang Road but do not assign residential floors or homes to that address. It may serve a management, clubhouse or other common-facility role, but available evidence does not prove its function.
This page preserves the discrepancy and does not inflate the residential count. Residents should provide their exact block, authorised visitor entrance, security procedure and internal meeting point.
What the STB decision supports
The Strata Titles Boards decision concerns a renovation and façade dispute, not swimming facilities. It nevertheless provides authoritative evidence that Castle Green is governed by MCST Plan 2178 and demonstrates why current management approval matters.
The decision discusses by-laws, renovation approval and the management corporation's role. It does not authorise lessons, describe the pool or establish current visitor rules.
Pool evidence instead comes from preserved site-plan imagery and current estate photographs. These support a central swimming pool without proving dimensions, depths, lanes, current condition or coaching policy.
Do not adopt promotional pool claims
Current directories commonly list swimming and children's, fun or wading pools. A rental advertisement claims three pools, while resident comments use subjective descriptions such as “huge” or “biggest.”
Those statements are not suitable evidence for exact count or dimensions. Pool types may be described differently across sources, and subjective size comparisons are not measurements.
The instructor should identify the main pool and assess its usable route directly. Other water remains excluded unless current management expressly identifies and permits a suitable section.
Management approval
Residents should verify the current managing agent, by-laws, pool notices and visitor procedure through Castle Green's official channel. The historical STB record confirms the MCST but not today's appointments or policies.
Ask whether the named external instructor, paid coaching and proposed format are allowed. Confirm identification, resident accompaniment, qualifications, insurance, participant limits, approved hours, equipment, photography and any booking requirement.
Payment or a resident invitation does not reserve water space or override management decisions. If approval is unavailable, choose another authorised venue.
First-session assessment
Before recurring lessons, verify:
- approval for the named instructor and arrangement;
- exact block, entrance and internal route;
- the correct central/main pool and approved section;
- present usable distance, depths and transitions;
- stable starting and turning boundaries;
- lane markings, obstructions and resident circulation;
- steps, ladders, ledges and dependable recovery points;
- separation from children's, fun and leisure water;
- deck grip, drainage, glare and water clarity;
- cleaning, closure and maintenance notices;
- lightning shelter and evacuation route; and
- emergency contacts and supervision requirements.
Stop or adapt when weather, crowding, water condition, poor visibility or management instructions make the activity unsafe. A site plan is not a current safety inspection.
Kids swimming lessons
Young beginners may practise safe entry, bubbles, face immersion, supported floating, kicking and returning to a reachable wall. The selected main-pool section must suit the child's height, confidence, communication needs and recovery ability.
Early practice should use a short visible route near a dependable exit in a measured depth. A children's, fun or wading pool is not automatically suitable and remains excluded.
School-age learners may progress through freestyle and backstroke coordination, breaststroke timing, treading water and practical self-rescue. Confident swimmers can use measured repeats and turns when the route remains clear.
Parents should disclose medical, sensory, behavioural or learning needs and supervise siblings who are not participating.
Adult beginner and stroke coaching
Adult beginners can start with calm exhalation, balance, floating, standing recovery and short independent movement near a reliable exit. Nervous learners may repeat small stages before increasing distance or depth.
Water-confident adults may refine alignment, catch, rotation, breathing rhythm, breaststroke timing, turns, pacing and fitness. Repeats should use the route measured that day rather than a subjective description of pool size.
Tell the instructor about injuries, mobility restrictions, exercise limits, medical advice and water anxiety before entering the water.
Ladies and female-instructor requests
Ladies may request a female instructor for comfort, privacy, cultural preference or safeguarding. Matching depends on instructor availability, Yio Chu Kang coverage, timing and management approval.
The central pool remains shared. A female coach does not create a women-only session, reserve a lane or guarantee visual privacy. Swimwear and equipment must follow current estate rules.
Private and compatible small groups
One-to-one lessons provide focused feedback and flexible pacing. “Private” describes the coaching format; it does not make the pool or lane private.
Small groups may suit compatible siblings, couples or neighbours with similar confidence, goals and safe working depths. Large ability gaps can complicate supervision.
Everyone should remain in one visible, approved main-pool zone. Other aquatic areas must not be used for waiting or overflow.
Scheduling and fees
Residents can propose weekday or weekend times after checking pool hours, cleaning, maintenance and normal demand. Castle Green's 664-home scale makes shared-space planning important, but unit count does not prove that a particular time will be crowded.
No recurring slot or quiet period is guaranteed. Singapore lightning and heavy rain require prompt suspension and movement to approved shelter. Written terms should cover weather, maintenance, denied entry and closure.
Fees depend on duration, format, participant count, instructor match, travel and access requirements. No Castle Green-specific price is invented. Review the fees and rates guide and request a written quotation after access appears feasible.
Lessons may support SwimSafer preparation, but Castle Green is not represented as an assessment or certification venue.

Sources and review note
Facts were reviewed on 28 August 2026 using URA-derived residential data, Singapore STB No. 20 of 2019, preserved Castle Green site-plan imagery and current Singapore project records and photographs. These support 664 homes, four residential blocks, MCST Plan 2178 and a central swimming pool. The fifth current address remains unclassified. Current pool count, dimensions, depths, lanes, condition, hours, managing agent, visitor rules and paid-coach access require verification.
