East Village Swimming Lessons

Residents may enquire about East Village swimming lessons at 430–432 Upper Changi Road, Singapore 487048–487049. Exact-project records identify a freehold mixed-use development completed in 2014 with 90 residences above commercial space and several residential pool facilities.

Kids, adults, ladies and compatible small groups may be considered after management approval and an instructor's on-site assessment. Published facilities do not guarantee external-coach access, lesson space or current operating conditions.

Verified mixed-use development identity

The URA-derived inventory records 90 dwellings at postcode 487049. PropertyGuru identifies a four-storey freehold development by World Class Developments (Bedok) Pte Ltd, completed in 2014, at 430 and 432 Upper Changi Road.

A 2012 launch report describes 90 residential and 108 commercial units. These figures describe different components and should not be combined. This guide concerns residents and residential facilities, not shoppers or commercial occupiers.

This page concerns East Village on Upper Changi Road only. It excludes East View, East View 18, East Village Hotel and unrelated developments or businesses with similar names.

Lap, wading and leisure-pool evidence

The 2012 project launch report identifies a 35 m lap pool for the residential component. PropertyGuru's exact-project facilities section lists a swimming pool, wading pool and spa pool; its project description additionally mentions relaxation water facilities. Current property records and residential listings corroborate swimming-pool access at the same project.

The published 35 m figure is a historical launch specification, not a fresh measurement. The instructor should verify usable length and availability. No 25-metre, 50-metre, Olympic-size, certified-depth, reserved-lane or exclusive-use claim is made.

The wading pool may suit some beginners, but its depth, barriers and condition are not established online. Exclude spa and relaxation pools unless management permits them and the instructor finds the exact area appropriate.

Management permission and mixed-use access

East Village is private residential property integrated with commercial premises. A resident's access to communal facilities does not automatically authorise an external instructor, paid coaching, teaching equipment or an organised group.

Before booking, the hosting resident should ask the current residential management office, managing agent or authorised representative whether the named instructor, learner count, lesson format and proposed time are permitted. Confirm which entrance and lift serve the residences, visitor registration, identification, advance notice, resident accompaniment, insurance, qualifications and any indemnity requirement.

Check rules on teaching aids, photography, waiting, noise and busy periods. Commercial security or a retail tenant cannot substitute for residential approval. Current by-laws, notices and security directions override online material, prior entry and this guide.

First-session pool assessment

Before recurring lessons, the instructor should inspect:

  • the exact lap or wading-pool area approved for instruction;
  • measured usable length, width and depth transitions;
  • steps, ladders, ledges, drains and water features;
  • separation between lap, wading, spa and relaxation areas;
  • water clarity, glare, lighting and deck grip;
  • sightlines and resident circulation around the pool;
  • barriers, recovery points and emergency equipment;
  • lightning shelter and emergency procedures; and
  • restrictions on teaching aids and poolside belongings.

The coach should match the selected water area to each learner. If continuous supervision or safe recovery cannot be maintained, the lesson should be adapted, the participant count reduced or another venue recommended.

Kids swimming lessons

Young beginners may practise safe entry, bubbles, face immersion, supported balance, floating, kicking and returning to a reachable edge. The wading pool should be used only if its measured depth, access and current condition suit the child and the planned skill.

School-age learners may progress to streamlining, breathing, stroke foundations, treading water and self-rescue habits. The lap pool may provide useful practice space when permitted, but resident sharing, features and usable length must be considered.

A responsible adult should remain reachable throughout the lesson and continue active supervision outside coached time. A wading-pool label does not make an area automatically safe or remove drowning risk.

Adult beginner and stroke lessons

Adults may enquire without previous swimming experience. Early sessions can cover controlled exhalation, balance, floating, recovery to standing and short movement near an assessed wall.

Water-confident adults may work on body position, breathing rhythm, propulsion, stroke efficiency and pacing. A historically specified 35 m pool does not guarantee uninterrupted lengths or marked training distances. A public pool may be preferable for sustained endurance work or goals requiring standardised distances.

Share relevant medical, sensory or mobility considerations before the first lesson so the instructor can adjust entry, communication and pace.

Ladies and female-instructor requests

Ladies may request a female swimming instructor for comfort, privacy or cultural preference. Matching depends on availability, schedule, Upper Changi Road coverage and successful residential access approval.

The pool remains communal and may be visible from residences or shared areas. A female instructor does not create a women-only setting, reserve the water or guarantee privacy.

Private and small-group formats

One-to-one coaching offers focused feedback and flexible pacing. “Private” describes the teaching format and does not mean exclusive use of East Village's pools.

A small group may suit siblings, couples or neighbours with compatible abilities and goals. Management must permit it, and the instructor must supervise every learner continuously without obstructing residents. Participant count should follow the approved pool area and current shared use rather than a fixed online promise.

Scheduling, weather and interruptions

Weekday or weekend requests depend on residential facility hours, maintenance, resident use, instructor availability and visitor approval. Share the correct residential entrance and access procedure before the coach travels.

Outdoor lessons must stop during lightning warnings and unsafe weather. Agree how lightning, heavy rain, poor water quality, maintenance, crowding, closure or failed access affects cancellation, credits and make-up lessons.

Fees and realistic progress

Fees vary with duration, format, participant count, instructor match, travel and access. No East Village-specific price is invented. Review the swimming lesson fees and rates and request a written quotation.

Progress depends on starting ability, attendance, practice, confidence and pool conditions. No fixed lesson count, stroke result or water-safety outcome is guaranteed.

Water safety and SwimSafer

Condo lessons may support confidence, floating, recovery skills, strokes and safer habits. East Village is not represented as an official SwimSafer assessment venue without separate confirmation of the programme, instructor and assessment location.

Lessons do not remove drowning risk. Children and weak swimmers require continuing active supervision outside coached sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Does East Village have a lap pool?

Yes. A project launch report specifies a 35 m lap pool, and current exact-project records list a swimming pool. The historical measurement and current usable area still require onsite confirmation.

Is there a wading pool for children?

PropertyGuru's exact-project facilities list includes a wading pool. Its current depth, condition and suitability for a particular child must be assessed before teaching.

Can lessons use the spa or relaxation pool?

Not by assumption. Those leisure facilities should be excluded unless residential management permits coaching there and the instructor finds the exact area suitable.

Can an external instructor enter automatically?

No. The hosting resident must obtain current residential management and security approval for the named coach and lesson arrangement.

Does a private lesson reserve the pool?

No. Private coaching means one-to-one instruction in a communal facility. It does not provide exclusive pool use.

Can a small group be arranged?

Possibly, if management permits it and the instructor confirms compatible abilities, safe supervision and acceptable shared-space impact.
