Fyve Derbyshire Swimming Lessons for Kids and Adults

Fyve Derbyshire is a completed freehold residential development at 5 Derbyshire Road in District 11. URA records completion in the second quarter of 2024 under RH Developments Two Pte Ltd, while the original project brochure identifies 71 residences.

The brochure's first-storey facilities plan specifies a 25m Lap Pool, Bubble Pool and Aqua Gym. These settings have different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable simply because they are grouped within the pool area.

Quick answer

Residents may enquire about private or compatible small-group lessons for children, adults, ladies, beginners and water-confident swimmers. The 25m Lap Pool is the clearest setting for conventional instruction, subject to current management permission, resident access and an assessment of completed conditions.

The Bubble Pool and Aqua Gym should not be used as default substitutes. Jets, equipment, steps or leisure layouts may interfere with breathing, balance, stroke movement and supervision.

Understanding the aquatic facilities

25m Lap Pool

The original brochure expressly describes a 25-metre-long swimming pool and labels it as a 25m Lap Pool on the facilities plan. It may support water confidence, stroke development, turns and measured fitness repeats when an approved clear section is available.

The 25m designation does not prove competition certification, lane markings, starting blocks, uniform depth or exclusive training space. An instructor should inspect depth signs, entries, exits, resting points and the unobstructed swimming route before planning lessons.

Bubble Pool

A Bubble Pool is normally designed for leisure and may contain jets, seating or water movement. These features can affect balance, breathing and communication, particularly for a nervous beginner.

It should not be promoted for ordinary learn-to-swim or stroke sessions. Its completed configuration and management rules must be checked before any limited activity is considered.

Aqua Gym

The Aqua Gym is separately labelled from the lap pool. It may contain fixed exercise features or a layout intended for water-based fitness rather than swimming lengths.

It is not a substitute lane. Specialist aqua exercise also differs from swimming instruction and should remain within the coach's qualifications and estate permissions.

Lesson options

Kids swimming lessons

Children can develop safe entry and exit, breath control, floating, kicking, recovery skills and age-appropriate stroke foundations. The instructor must match activities to the child's height, confidence and the lap pool's verified depth.

Parents should disclose relevant medical, sensory or communication needs before the first session. Young learners require active supervision, and progress varies rather than following a guaranteed lesson count.

The brochure does not identify a children's or wading pool. No such facility should be promised from third-party descriptions without confirmation from the completed estate.

Adult beginner lessons

Adult beginners may work gradually on breathing, balance, floating, recovery to standing, propulsion and coordinated movements. Private coaching can provide individual pacing and focused feedback.

Tell the instructor about injuries, exercise restrictions or difficult water experiences. If the completed lap-pool depth or layout is unsuitable, the coach may recommend another venue rather than move automatically into the Bubble Pool or Aqua Gym.

Ladies swimming lessons

Learners may request a female swimming instructor for comfort, privacy, cultural preference or safeguarding considerations. Assignment depends on timing, estate access, location coverage and coach availability.

The facilities remain shared residential spaces. A female-coach request does not create a private or women-only pool environment.

Stroke correction and fitness

Water-confident swimmers may work on freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, body position, breathing, turns, pacing and efficiency. The stated 25m length can support structured repeats after the coach verifies the completed route.

Other residents retain equal access. Drills should be shortened or paused if leisure traffic, steps or pool configuration interrupt the course. Competition conditions must not be assumed.

Private and small-group formats

Private lessons provide focused feedback and flexible progression. Small groups may suit siblings, relatives or residents with similar ability and objectives.

Group size must comply with estate rules and preserve safe sightlines. Large mixed-level groups may obstruct other users or become difficult to supervise in a boutique 71-home development.

Resident and management checks

Before paying for recurring lessons, ask the managing agent or MCST:

  • whether external swimming instructors are currently permitted;
  • whether identification, registration or insurance documents are required;
  • whether a resident must register, escort or remain with the coach;
  • which pool and hours may be used for instruction;
  • whether floats, kickboards or other teaching aids are allowed;
  • whether booking or a facility fee applies; and
  • how closures, complaints and busy conditions are handled.

Written confirmation is preferable when the policy is unclear. SwimmingClasses.sg and an assigned coach cannot override security procedures or estate by-laws.

Pool-area supervision

The facilities plan groups the lap pool, Bubble Pool, Aqua Gym, deck, cabana and shower point at the first storey. Learners should walk between areas and use only approved entries.

Children must remain supervised so they do not move into a jet or exercise area without instruction. Equipment should remain clear of the cabana, deck, shower and emergency routes.

Scheduling and shared-pool etiquette

Observe the lap pool at the proposed lesson time before selecting a weekly slot. Evenings, weekends and school holidays may be busy, but actual use should be checked rather than assumed.

The instructor should occupy only the space needed and preserve resident access to steps and decks. A session may need to pause, relocate or finish if conditions become unsafe or disruptive.

Weather and safety

Outdoor lessons must stop during lightning warnings and whenever heavy rain, strong wind or poor visibility creates unsafe conditions. Everyone should leave the water promptly and follow on-site announcements.

Wet decks and glare require care. Maintenance, water treatment, contamination or resident events may close a pool. Agree on cancellation and rescheduling terms before payment.

Fees and booking expectations

Fees vary with private or group format, duration, learner level, frequency, instructor experience and travel requirements. Request a current quotation explaining package validity, payment timing, cancellations and any assessment charge.

Confirm management approval before purchasing multiple lessons. A completed development with a 25m lap pool does not automatically provide an authorised coaching slot.

SwimSafer preparation

Families interested in SwimSafer may ask whether the instructor offers programme-aligned preparation and where formal assessment takes place. Fyve Derbyshire should not be described as an official SwimSafer assessment venue unless independently verified.

Frequently asked questions

Does Fyve Derbyshire have a 25m pool?

Yes. The original project brochure specifies a 25m Lap Pool.

Is the pool competition-standard?

That is not established. The 25m length does not prove certification, lanes, starting blocks, depth or exclusive training space.

Can children learn there?

Potentially, if management permits lessons and an instructor confirms that the completed depth and layout suit the child's height, confidence and ability.

Can lessons use the Bubble Pool?

It should not be the default teaching area. Jets, seating or leisure use may interfere with conventional instruction.

Is the Aqua Gym another swimming pool?

It is separately labelled and should not be treated as a conventional lap or beginner pool.

Can a non-resident instructor enter?

Only if current visitor and facility policies permit. A resident may need to register, escort or accompany the instructor.

Can I request a female instructor?

Yes, subject to availability, access approval, timing and location coverage.

Evidence and review note

Completion and developer identity were reviewed against URA's 2Q 2024 completion annex. The residence count, 25m Lap Pool, Bubble Pool and Aqua Gym were reviewed against the original Fyve Derbyshire project brochure on 26 August 2026. These sources do not establish depths, current coaching permission, lifeguard coverage, exclusive lesson space or competition certification.
