Icon Swimming Lessons for Kids and Adults

Icon is a completed inner-city residential development at Tras and Gopeng Streets in Tanjong Pagar. Far East Organization’s official project history records the 646-unit, two-tower development as completed in 2007. It identifies a Level 7 recreation deck with a 50-metre lap pool, tennis courts and barbecue pavilions.
This guide helps residents assess that elevated shared pool for structured lessons. It does not promise management permission, exclusive pool use, a reserved lane, or public entry through the adjoining retail areas.
Quick answer
Icon’s verified 50-metre lap pool is a plausible setting for kids, adult, private and small-group lessons after the resident confirms current access and the pool is inspected.
Its published length may support stroke development and repeat swimming. However, the Level 7 setting introduces additional considerations such as wind, glare, lift access and emergency movement. A 50-metre label does not prove competition depth, lane ropes or uninterrupted availability.
What is verified about Icon
Far East Organization describes Icon as a completed 2007 project with two residential towers of 41 and 46 storeys. The 646 units include apartments, lofts, studios and sky apartments.
The developer’s project history places the recreation deck on Level 7 and specifically identifies a 50-metre lap pool. It also records landscaped sky gardens, spa facilities, a gymnasium, clubhouse and other residential amenities.
The source distinguishes Icon Village, a ground-level retail component, from the residential development. Retail connectivity does not establish public access to the Level 7 pool.
Current management rules, pool depth, lane markings, visitor registration, opening hours and coaching permission remain unverified and must be checked by the hosting resident.
Assessing the Level 7 pool
Before the first lesson, inspect:
- depth along the intended teaching route;
- conventional walls and reachable recovery points;
- steps, ladders, ledges and overflow edges;
- lane markings or the absence of them;
- the straight usable portion during normal resident use;
- wind exposure and wind-driven rain;
- glare, shade and water clarity;
- lift, stair and emergency access from the deck; and
- lightning, maintenance and closure procedures.
The full 50 metres can support capable swimmers, but young beginners may use only a short section near a reliable wall. Facility length is not a lesson target imposed on every learner.
Kids swimming lessons
Young beginners may practise safe entry, bubbles, face immersion, floating, kicking and returning to a reachable wall. The instructor should keep the teaching area compact and remain close without blocking residents.
School-age swimmers may progress to freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, coordinated breathing and longer repeats. Distance should increase only when technique, safety awareness and recovery remain consistent.
Parents or caregivers should plan enough time for lobby, lift and security access before class. They remain responsible before formal handover and immediately after the lesson.
Adult and ladies swimming lessons
Adult beginners can start with relaxed exhalation, balance, floating, standing recovery and short controlled movement. Coaching can adapt to anxiety or previous experiences without guaranteeing a fixed learning timeline.
Intermediate adults may use the 50-metre pool for alignment, breathing efficiency, turns and repeat swimming when conditions permit. Fitness volume should follow technique and actual pool traffic.
A female swimming instructor may be requested, subject to city-centre coverage, management access, schedule and availability. The shared residential pool cannot be represented as women-only.
Private and small-group formats
Private lessons may suit nervous beginners, learners needing close support or swimmers seeking targeted stroke feedback. Private coaching does not confer exclusive use of the pool.
Small groups may suit siblings, couples or neighbours with compatible ability. Participant count must reflect visibility, water depth, wall space and the number of other residents using the route.
Learners with substantially different support needs may require separate sessions. No instructor can promise a quiet pool or ask residents to leave a communal facility.
Elevated-deck weather and emergency planning
A Level 7 pool may experience more wind and glare than a ground-level sheltered facility. Actual exposure depends on the completed towers, nearby buildings and current weather, so conditions must be assessed rather than inferred from height alone.
Lightning is a stop condition regardless of whether rain appears light. Lessons must follow official alerts, estate notices and site procedures.
The hosting resident and instructor should understand the nearest lift, stair and emergency route. Equipment and personal belongings should not obstruct circulation or evacuation paths.
Residential and retail access boundaries
Icon Village’s shops and food-and-beverage outlets are at ground level. Being a shopper, diner, office worker or visitor in Tanjong Pagar does not provide entry to the residential towers or Level 7 recreation deck.
The hosting resident should confirm the correct residential entrance, security registration process, lift route and escort requirement. Public retail opening hours do not determine residential pool access.
The connected ground-floor retail component of Altez is also separate. Its presence does not create a route to Icon’s residential pool.
Spa and landscape-water boundaries
Far East Organization also describes recreational and spa facilities and landscaped sky gardens. Spa water, aroma areas, decorative water and private alcoves should not be treated as stroke-teaching pools.
Only the verified 50-metre residential lap pool is presented as the primary teaching candidate. Any other wet area observed on site requires a separate purpose and safety assessment.
The word “lap” does not guarantee a reserved lane. The pool remains shared unless management expressly creates another arrangement.
Scheduling lessons
Provide several preferred times during enquiry. Residents may use the pool for continuous laps before work, after work or on weekends, but actual traffic should be observed rather than guessed.
Allow time for city-centre traffic, parking, security and vertical access. A late arrival does not automatically extend the permitted lesson period.
If the pool becomes crowded, the instructor may shorten repetitions, use stationary control drills or reschedule. The lesson should not obstruct the main swimming route.
Fees and written terms
Fees depend on lesson duration, format, participant count, instructor match, travel and estate requirements. This page does not invent an Icon-specific price. Review the SwimmingClasses.sg fees and rates guide and request a written quotation.
Written terms should cover weather decisions, notice periods, credits, make-ups, access-related cancellations and package expiry.
No price should be interpreted as including lane hire, parking, visitor charges or exclusive pool use unless separately confirmed in writing.
SwimSafer and progression goals
Condo lessons may build breathing control, floating, safe entry, rotation, wall recovery and stroke skills. The 50-metre pool can support longer repeats for ready swimmers, but distance alone does not prove water competence.
Practice at Icon does not itself issue a SwimSafer certificate. Formal programme, venue and assessment arrangements must be confirmed separately.
No instructor should promise certification, a fixed number of lessons or a guaranteed outcome from an enquiry.
Frequently asked questions
Is Icon completed?
Yes. Far East Organization records the project as completed in 2007.
Does Icon have a 50-metre pool?
Yes. The developer identifies a 50-metre lap pool on the Level 7 recreation deck.
Can retail visitors access the pool?
Public access should not be assumed. Icon Village’s retail areas are separate from the residential towers and pool deck.
Does a lesson receive a reserved lane?
No. A reservation exists only if current management expressly provides one.
Can I request a female instructor?
Yes, subject to coverage, access, schedule and availability.
Are spa facilities used for stroke lessons?
They should not be treated as ordinary teaching pools. Their purpose and physical conditions differ from the verified lap pool.
