Maple Woods Swimming Lessons

Maple Woods is a completed 697-home condominium at 985–993 Bukit Timah Road. URA-derived data supports its five-address residential identity, while preserved original project material explicitly lists a swimming pool, wading pool, jacuzzi and waterfall feature.
Residents may enquire about kids, adult, ladies, beginner, private or compatible small-group swimming lessons. The original brochure provides credible evidence of the designed main pool, but it does not grant entry or confirm today's dimensions, condition or coaching rules.
Quick answer
Swimming lessons may be feasible when Maple Woods management permits the named instructor and a resident arranges authorised access. The main swimming pool is the first teaching candidate after an instructor assesses the actual route, depths, exits, boundaries, visibility and resident circulation.
No lane, quiet period or exclusive section is promised. Wading, jacuzzi, waterfall, grotto, spa, feature, decorative and private water are excluded by default.
Five Bukit Timah Road addresses
URA-derived and current project records identify five addresses: 985, 987, 989, 991 and 993 Bukit Timah Road, with postal codes 589627 to 589631. Residents should provide their exact block, authorised entrance, security procedure and internal meeting point.
Do not assume that a marketing-site address, management-office record or map pin is the correct visitor entrance. Use current instructions supplied through the resident and the estate's official channel.
The internal route should avoid residential corridors where possible and must not obstruct driveways, clubhouse access or common circulation.
What the original brochure proves
The preserved Maple Woods brochure lists swimming pool, wading pool, jacuzzi and waterfall feature as distinct recreation facilities. It also describes landscaped decks and a two-storey waterfall within the wider design.
This is useful evidence because it distinguishes the main swimming pool from leisure and decorative water. It does not publish a current learner-safe depth map, usable lap distance, lane markings, maintenance condition, opening hours or external-instructor policy.
Historical descriptions of a landscaped or curving pool should not be converted into an unsupported lap length. The instructor must identify and measure a clear practical teaching route on the day.
Historical project manager is not current approval
The original brochure names Wing Tai Property Management Pte Ltd as project manager. That historical role does not prove who manages the completed estate today and does not authorise coaching.
BCA's official MCST dataset is the correct framework for current management-corporation information. Residents should verify the present managing agent, by-laws, notices and visitor procedure through the estate's official channel because appointments and policies change.
Ask whether the named external instructor, paid coaching and proposed format are allowed. Confirm visitor identification, resident accompaniment, qualifications, insurance, participant limits, approved hours, equipment, photography and any facility-booking requirement.
First-session assessment
Before recurring lessons, verify:
- approval for the named instructor and arrangement;
- exact block, entrance and internal route;
- the correct main pool and permitted teaching section;
- present usable distance, depths and transitions;
- starting and turning walls or other clear boundaries;
- lane markings, obstructions and resident circulation;
- steps, ladders, ledges and dependable recovery points;
- separation from wading, jacuzzi and waterfall areas;
- deck grip, drainage, glare and water clarity;
- cleaning, closure and maintenance notices;
- lightning shelter and evacuation route; and
- emergency contacts and supervision requirements.
Stop or adapt when weather, crowding, poor visibility, water condition or a management instruction makes the activity unsafe. Original design evidence is not a present safety inspection.
Keep teaching away from non-main water
The brochure's separate facility labels help set clear boundaries. The main swimming pool should be assessed first. Wading and jacuzzi areas are excluded because their depth, temperature, jets, circulation and user purpose may not suit instruction.
The waterfall and any grotto or connected decorative feature are not swimming-class spaces. They may involve pumps, falling water, hidden edges, slippery surfaces or restricted circulation.
Do not use excluded water for warm-ups, waiting, overflow practice or sibling play during a lesson.
Kids swimming lessons
Young beginners may practise safe entry, bubbles, face immersion, supported floating, kicking and returning to a reachable wall. The selected main-pool section must suit the child's height, confidence, communication needs and recovery ability.
Early practice should use a short visible route near a dependable exit in a verified depth. A named wading pool is not automatically a safer teaching venue and remains excluded.
School-age learners may progress through freestyle and backstroke coordination, breaststroke timing, treading water and practical self-rescue. Confident swimmers can use measured repeats and turns when the assessed route remains clear.
Parents should disclose medical, sensory, behavioural or learning needs and supervise siblings who are not participating.
Adult beginner and stroke coaching
Adult beginners can start with relaxed exhalation, balance, floating, standing recovery and short independent movement near a reliable exit. Nervous learners may repeat small stages before increasing distance or depth.
Water-confident adults may refine alignment, catch, rotation, breathing rhythm, breaststroke timing, turns, pacing and fitness. Curved or landscaped geometry may require shorter repeats, so the programme should use the practical route assessed that day.
Tell the instructor about injuries, mobility restrictions, exercise limits, medical advice and water anxiety before entering the water.
Ladies and female-instructor requests
Ladies may request a female instructor for comfort, privacy, cultural preference or safeguarding. Matching depends on instructor availability, Bukit Timah coverage, timing and management approval.
The main pool remains shared. A female coach does not create a women-only session, reserve an area or guarantee visual privacy. Swimwear and equipment must comply with current estate rules while allowing safe movement.
Private and compatible small-group formats
One-to-one lessons provide focused feedback and flexible pacing. “Private” describes the coaching format; it does not mean the pool or route is private.
Small groups may suit compatible siblings, couples or neighbours with similar confidence, goals and safe working depths. Large ability gaps can complicate supervision and reduce useful practice.
Everyone should remain in one visible, approved main-pool zone. Wading, jacuzzi, waterfall and other excluded water must not be used for overflow or waiting.
Scheduling and shared-space planning
Residents can propose weekday or weekend times after checking current pool hours, cleaning, maintenance and normal demand. Maple Woods' 697-home scale makes shared-space planning important, but unit count does not prove that a particular time will be crowded.
No recurring slot, lane or quiet period is guaranteed. If resident traffic interrupts the route or safe separation cannot be maintained, shorten the repeat, pause or reschedule.
Singapore lightning and heavy rain require prompt suspension and movement to approved shelter. Written terms should cover weather, maintenance, denied entry, closure and late arrival.
Fees and SwimSafer preparation
Fees depend on duration, format, participant count, instructor match, travel and access requirements. No Maple Woods-specific price is invented. Review the fees and rates guide and request a written quotation after access appears feasible.
Terms should cover illness, weather, maintenance, notice periods, credits and package expiry. Payment does not grant management approval or exclusive use.
Lessons may support SwimSafer preparation, but Maple Woods is not represented as an assessment or certification venue.

Sources and review note
Facts were reviewed on 28 August 2026 using URA-derived residential data, a preserved original Maple Woods brochure, BCA's official MCST dataset framework and current Singapore project records. These support 697 homes, five Bukit Timah Road addresses and separately named swimming, wading, jacuzzi and waterfall facilities. Exact current dimensions, depths, lane arrangement, condition, hours, current managing agent, visitor rules and paid-coach access remain subject to verification.
