Ris Grandeur Swimming Lessons

Ris Grandeur is a completed freehold condominium on Elias Road. Its current estate website identifies 453 units and lists a lap pool, water-interactive playground, Jacuzzi pool, man-made beach and bubble pool. Current house rules also refer to swimming, children's, interactive, bubble and Jacuzzi pools and set specific conditions for private coaching.
The lap pool is the primary candidate for structured instruction. Children's or interactive water requires a separate suitability check. The Jacuzzi, bubble pool, man-made beach, koi pond, waterfall pond, water curtain and fountain jets are excluded from formal swimming lessons.
Quick answer
Residents may enquire about kids, adult, ladies, beginner, private or compatible small-group lessons at Ris Grandeur. The estate rules state that private coaches must first obtain written consent from management. Lessons therefore cannot proceed on an informal assumption or on the basis of previous entry.
The rules limit pool use to residents and accompanied guests, state daily opening hours of 7:00 am to 10:00 pm and prohibit pool use during heavy rain and thunderstorms. Current management approval, security arrangements and an on-site pool assessment remain essential.
Choosing the correct pool
The estate facilities page explicitly identifies a lap pool but does not publish a reliable length, depth profile, marked-lane plan or competition certification. No measurement or certification is invented here.
Before teaching, inspect the actual walls, steps, ladders, depths, transitions, sightlines and recovery points. Beginners generally need manageable water beside dependable support. Stronger swimmers need a clear route that suits their technique and stamina without interfering with resident traffic.
Children's or interactive water may involve shallow areas, play movement or non-standard edges and is conditional. The Jacuzzi pool, bubble pool and man-made beach are leisure or wellness water. Koi ponds, waterfall ponds, water curtains and fountain jets are decorative and excluded.
Written approval and resident access
Ris Grandeur's published rules state that a private coach may not give pool lessons without written management consent. The resident should request approval before fixing a start date and retain the current written response.
The rules also say that only residents and their guests may use the pools, with guests accompanied by their hosts. A maximum of four pool guests per housing unit is stated, but that limit does not itself authorise a paid coach or a four-person class. Management may impose stricter coaching, commercial-activity or supervision conditions.
Ask what identification, qualifications, insurance, registration, escort or booking is required. An enquiry through this page does not create estate approval, and prior access does not establish continuing permission.
First-session safety checklist
Before recurring lessons begin, verify:
- current written consent for the named private swimming coach;
- resident sponsorship, guest limits and accompaniment procedures;
- identification, insurance, qualifications or advance registration required;
- the exact lap-pool section and lesson times approved;
- separation from interactive, Jacuzzi, bubble, beach and decorative water;
- actual depths, transitions and restricted sections;
- ordinary walls, steps, ladders and recovery points;
- usable distance, markings and clear swimming space;
- ledges, jets, curves or other obstructions;
- typical lap, leisure, play and crossing traffic;
- deck grip, drainage, shade, heat and glare;
- cleaning and maintenance closures;
- lightning and emergency procedures; and
- equipment, group-size, noise, attire and photography limits.
Current management directions and poolside signs take priority. The rules state there is no lifeguard in attendance. If conditions are crowded, closed or unsuitable, the instructor should adapt, pause or reschedule.
Kids swimming lessons
Young beginners may practise safe entry, bubbles, face immersion, supported floating, kicking and returning to an accessible edge. The chosen section must suit the child's height, confidence, communication needs and recovery ability.
The estate rules require children under 12 to be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult in the pool area. This is separate from the coach's teaching role, so the family should confirm who must remain present throughout the lesson.
School-age learners may progress through body position, freestyle and backstroke coordination, breaststroke timing, treading water and practical self-rescue. Children's, interactive or beach-style water should not be selected solely by name; actual walls, depth, play traffic and recovery access determine suitability.
Adult beginner and stroke coaching
Adult beginners can work on calm exhalation, balance, floating, standing recovery and short independent movement near suitable support. Nervous learners should progress gradually rather than being pressured into deeper or longer routes.
Water-confident adults may improve alignment, catch, rotation, breathing rhythm, breaststroke efficiency, turns, pacing and endurance. Repetition distance should reflect the currently clear lap-pool route, not an assumed measurement.
Learners should disclose injuries, mobility restrictions, exercise limits and water anxiety. Unsuitable depth, crowding or limited recovery access may require shorter drills, a different approved time or another venue.
Ladies and female-instructor requests
Ladies may request a female swimming instructor for comfort, privacy, cultural preference or safeguarding. Matching depends on instructor availability, Elias Road coverage, preferred timing and written management approval.
The pool remains shared with residents and accompanied guests. A female coach does not create a women-only session or guarantee visual privacy. Swimwear must support safe movement and comply with the estate's current attire rules.
Private and small-group formats
One-to-one lessons provide focused feedback and flexible pacing. Written approval does not reserve the lap pool or give priority over residents.
Small groups may suit compatible siblings, couples or neighbours, but group size must satisfy both the estate's guest rules and any separate coaching approval. Large ability gaps or busy conditions may make separate lessons safer.
The published rules restrict bulky inflatables, boards, snorkelling and scuba gear while allowing plastic goggles and small children's toys in wading water. Residents should confirm whether kickboards or teaching aids are permitted before bringing them.
Scheduling and Singapore weather
The published pool hours are 7:00 am to 10:00 pm daily, but those hours do not guarantee an approved coaching slot or pool availability. Residents should also check cleaning, maintenance and typical traffic.
The rules prohibit pool use during heavy rain and thunderstorms. More generally, Singapore lightning alerts, poor visibility, unsafe water or deck conditions and management closure notices require lessons to stop.
Interactive, bubble, Jacuzzi, beach or decorative water is not a fallback. Busy or unsafe conditions require a shorter drill, pause, reschedule or another approved pool.
Fees, cancellations and SwimSafer planning
Fees depend on duration, private or group format, participant count, instructor match, travel and access requirements. No Ris Grandeur-specific price is invented. Review the fees and rates guide and request a written quotation.
Terms should address weather, failed access, closures, notice periods, credits, make-up lessons and package expiry. Payment does not reserve shared water or override management decisions.
Lessons may build confidence, recovery, strokes and water-safety skills relevant to SwimSafer preparation. Ris Grandeur is not represented as an official SwimSafer assessment or certification venue without separate confirmation.
