The Clift Swimming Lessons

The Clift is a completed 312-home residential tower at 21 McCallum Street in Singapore's CBD. URA-derived data and preserved Far East Organization material support the project identity and identify a lap pool among elevated facilities across two sky-garden levels.
Residents may enquire about adult, kids, ladies, beginner, private or compatible small-group swimming lessons. Current pool dimensions, depths, lane markings, water temperature, condition and permission for paid external coaching still require management and on-site verification.
Quick answer
The documented lap pool is the first teaching candidate after residential management approval and an instructor's safety assessment. A historical industry article describes it as 25 metres, but the present usable length, boundaries and lane arrangement should be measured rather than assumed.
Aquagym, hydrotherapy, jacuzzi, hot-tub, sauna, spa, feature, decorative and private water are excluded from lessons, waiting and overflow use. An elevated facility description does not grant residential lift or pool-deck access.
Residential tower, retail podium and former office use
The Clift combines 312 residential homes with a single-storey retail podium. It also occupies a former office site. These uses must remain separate when arranging a lesson.
Public access to a shop, surrounding CBD building or car park does not provide access to the residential lobby, lifts, sky gardens or pool. Residents should provide the authorised residential entrance, concierge or security procedure, correct lift bank, facility floor and meeting point.
The coach should allow enough registration, lift and walking time without reducing supervised water time. Children must not wait alone in a public lobby, lift area or elevated pool deck.
Management and paid-coach approval
Ask current residential management whether the named paid external instructor and proposed arrangement are permitted. Confirm visitor identification, qualifications, insurance, resident accompaniment, participant limits, hours, equipment, photography and the approved pool section.
A resident invitation, web enquiry, retail visit or payment does not override by-laws, grant lift access or reserve water. Security may require current authorisation for every visit. If the coach or arrangement cannot be approved, use another authorised venue.
Natwest Development is identified as the project company, while Far East Organization is the developer brand in current records. Neither name establishes current management or coaching permission.
First-session sky-pool assessment
Before recurring lessons, verify:
- approval for the named instructor and arrangement;
- the residential entrance, lift and sky-garden floor;
- the approved lap-pool teaching section;
- actual usable length, depths and any abrupt transitions;
- lane markings, walls and dependable recovery points;
- steps, ladders and underwater ledges;
- separation from aquagym and hydrotherapy water;
- exclusion boundaries for jacuzzi, hot-tub and spa areas;
- elevated-deck wind, glare, shade and surface grip;
- sightlines, drainage and resident circulation;
- water clarity, temperature and maintenance notices;
- lightning alerts, shelter and evacuation route; and
- emergency contacts and supervision requirements.
Stop whenever weather, crowding, temperature, poor visibility, water condition or management instructions make coaching unsafe. Historical descriptions are not a substitute for current inspection.
Water temperature and historical reports
A resident comment from 2022 reported cold pool water and an unavailable outdoor hot jacuzzi. That is stale anecdotal evidence, not a claim about present conditions.
It does justify checking current water temperature, equipment status and closure notices before every lesson. A learner who becomes cold, starts shivering or loses coordination should leave the water, dry off and warm up according to the instructor's safety procedure.
The jacuzzi remains excluded even if it has been repaired. It is not a warm-up, recovery or waiting area for a swimming class.
Kids swimming lessons
Young beginners may practise safe entry, bubbles, face immersion, supported floating, kicking and returning to a reachable wall. The selected section must match the child's height, confidence, communication needs and recovery ability.
The Clift is a city-centre high-rise commonly associated with compact homes and working adults. This does not mean children cannot learn there, but a coach must verify safeguarding, deck circulation, learner comfort and whether management permits the proposed arrangement.
School-age learners may progress through freestyle and backstroke coordination, breaststroke timing, treading water and practical self-rescue. Confident swimmers can work on measured repeats, turns and endurance only along a verified clear route.
Parents should disclose medical, sensory, behavioural or learning needs and supervise siblings who are not participating. Hydrotherapy, aquagym, jacuzzi and spa areas are not play or waiting spaces.
Adult beginner and stroke coaching
Adult beginners can start with calm exhalation, balance, floating, standing recovery and short independent movement near a reliable exit. Nervous learners may repeat small stages before increasing distance or depth.
Water-confident adults may refine alignment, catch, rotation, breathing rhythm, breaststroke timing, turns, pacing and fitness. A verified lap route may support structured repeats, but no exclusive lane or uninterrupted distance is guaranteed.
Tell the instructor about injuries, mobility restrictions, exercise limits, medical advice, temperature sensitivity and water anxiety. The residential entrance, lift and sky-garden journey may matter for anyone with reduced mobility or heavy equipment.
Ladies and female-instructor requests
Ladies may request a female swimming instructor for comfort, privacy, cultural preference or safeguarding. Matching depends on instructor availability, CBD coverage, timing and management approval.
The pool remains shared. A female coach does not create a women-only session or guarantee visual privacy. Swimwear and equipment must comply with current rules while allowing safe movement.
Private and compatible small-group formats
One-to-one lessons provide focused feedback and flexible pacing. “Private” describes the coaching format; it does not reserve a lane, lift, sky garden or pool.
Small groups may suit compatible partners, neighbours or family members. Participants need similar confidence and goals to remain in one clearly visible, approved pool section. Group size should be reduced when crowding, temperature or sightlines demand closer supervision.
Aquagym, hydrotherapy, jacuzzi, hot-tub, sauna, spa, feature, decorative and private water must not become unsupervised waiting or overflow areas.
Scheduling for CBD residents
Residents can propose weekday or weekend times after checking opening hours, cleaning, maintenance and normal demand. Before-work, lunchtime and after-work requests may coincide with resident use; no quiet period, dedicated lane or exclusive pool access is guaranteed.
Allow time for CBD traffic, parking, security registration and vertical travel. A late arrival should not lead to rushed access checks or extended use beyond permitted hours.
Singapore lightning and heavy rain require prompt suspension and movement to approved shelter. Elevated decks can also experience wind and glare. Written terms should explain weather, maintenance, denied entry, closure and late-arrival handling.
Fees, cancellations and SwimSafer preparation
Fees depend on duration, format, participant count, instructor match, travel and access requirements. No The Clift-specific price is invented. Review the fees and rates guide and request a written quotation after access appears feasible.
Terms should cover illness, weather, maintenance, temperature concerns, notice periods, credits and package expiry. Payment does not grant management approval or exclusive pool use.
Lessons can build confidence, strokes and water-safety skills relevant to SwimSafer preparation. The Clift is not represented as an official assessment or certification venue.
Frequently asked questions
Does The Clift have a lap pool?
Yes. Preserved developer material identifies a lap pool. Current usable length, lanes, depths and condition require verification.
Is the lap pool 25 metres?
A historical property-industry article uses that description. Measure the present usable route before distance-based training rather than treating it as guaranteed.
Can retail visitors use the residential pool?
No such access is claimed. Retail, public-car-park and residential amenity access are separate.
Can lessons use the aquagym or jacuzzi?
No. Aquagym, hydrotherapy, jacuzzi, hot-tub, sauna, spa, feature, decorative and private water are excluded.
Can an external coach enter?
Only when current residential management permits the named instructor and arrangement. Confirm before booking.
Sources and review note
Facts were reviewed on 28 August 2026 using URA-derived residential data, preserved Far East Organization material and current Singapore project records. These support 312 residences, 2011 completion and a lap pool among two sky-garden facility levels. A historical 25-metre description and 2022 condition comments are verification prompts, not current guarantees. Exact dimensions, depths, lanes, temperature, condition, rules and paid-coach access remain subject to verification.
