Uptown @ Farrer Swimming Lessons

Uptown @ Farrer is a completed mixed-use development at 2 Perumal Road. Corporate and project records distinguish 116 private condominium residences from 240 serviced apartments and seven commercial units. Preserved project material identifies a 32-metre lap pool for the private residential component.
This guide covers residents of the 116 private homes only. It does not assume that serviced-apartment guests, operators, shop users or commercial visitors share the same pool or paid-coach access rules.
Quick answer
The documented 32-metre lap pool is the first teaching candidate after private-residence management approval and an instructor's on-site assessment. Current usable distance, depths, lanes, entries, condition and coach access still require confirmation.
Kids' water play, jacuzzi, spa and aqua-deck leisure zones are excluded from lessons, waiting and overflow use unless management expressly identifies a separate authorised swimming area that a coach independently assesses as suitable.
Confirm private-residence access
The address includes private homes, serviced apartments and shops. Residents should provide the private-residential entrance, correct security desk, lift route and pool deck before the first lesson.
A serviced-apartment booking, commercial visit or access card does not automatically establish private-resident pool rights. Likewise, a rule issued by the serviced-apartment operator may not govern the condominium management corporation.
The coach should use only the entrance and route authorised for the sponsored residential visit. Children must not be sent alone to find an instructor within the mixed-use development.
Management and paid-coach approval
Ask private-residence management whether the named paid external instructor and arrangement are permitted. Confirm visitor registration, identification, qualifications, insurance, resident accompaniment, participant limits, hours, equipment, photography and the approved pool lane or section.
A resident invitation, web enquiry or payment does not override by-laws, grant entry or reserve water. If the proposed arrangement cannot be approved, use another authorised venue.
First-session pool and vertical-access assessment
Before recurring lessons, verify:
- approval from the correct private-residence management body;
- the residential entrance, security desk, lift and pool level;
- the approved lap-pool lane or teaching section;
- current usable distance within the documented 32-metre pool;
- actual depths and any abrupt transitions;
- steps, ladders, walls and dependable recovery points;
- underwater ledges and visibility along the route;
- separation from kids' water play and leisure zones;
- exclusion boundaries for jacuzzi, spa and aqua deck;
- deck grip, drainage, wind, glare and shared circulation;
- lightning alerts, shelter and vertical evacuation route;
- arrangements during lift disruption; and
- emergency contacts and supervision requirements.
Stop whenever weather, crowding, poor visibility, water condition or management instructions make coaching unsafe.
Kids swimming lessons
Young beginners may practise safe entry, bubbles, face immersion, supported floating, kicking and returning to a reachable wall. A short, clearly bounded part of the lap pool should be selected only after checking depth, entries and recovery support.
The documented kids' water-play area is not automatically a teaching pool. Play features, water movement, shallow sections and other users can make structured supervision difficult. It should remain excluded unless current rules and an on-site assessment support a specific swimming use.
School-age learners may progress through freestyle and backstroke coordination, breaststroke timing, treading water and practical self-rescue. Confident swimmers can use measured repeats and turns without assuming that the full 32 metres is always unobstructed or reserved.
Parents should disclose medical, sensory, behavioural or learning needs and supervise siblings away from all water when they are not participating.
Adult beginner and stroke coaching
Adult beginners can start with calm exhalation, balance, floating, standing recovery and short independent movement near a reliable exit. Nervous learners may repeat small stages before increasing distance or depth.
Water-confident adults may refine alignment, catch, rotation, breathing rhythm, breaststroke timing, turns, pacing and endurance. The documented pool length can inform planning, but actual repeats must use the verified session route.
Tell the instructor about injuries, mobility restrictions, exercise limits, medical advice and water anxiety. Lift access and emergency descent may also matter for learners with limited mobility.
Ladies and female-instructor requests
Ladies may request a female swimming instructor for comfort, privacy, cultural preference or safeguarding. Matching depends on instructor availability, Farrer Park coverage, timing and private-residence management approval.
The pool remains shared. A female coach does not create a women-only session or guarantee visual privacy. Swimwear and equipment must comply with current residential rules while allowing safe movement.
Private and compatible small-group formats
One-to-one lessons provide focused feedback and flexible pacing. “Private” describes the coaching format; it does not reserve a lane or give priority over residents.
Small groups may suit compatible siblings, couples or neighbours from the private residences. Participants need sufficiently similar confidence and goals to remain in one visible, approved lane or section.
Serviced-apartment guests or commercial visitors should not be added to a residential lesson group unless the correct management body expressly authorises their access. Water play, jacuzzi, spa and aqua-deck zones are not waiting areas.
Scheduling beside Farrer Park MRT
Residents can propose weekday or weekend times after checking opening hours, cleaning, maintenance and normal demand. No recurring lane, quiet period or low-crowd slot is guaranteed.
The MRT-adjacent location may make travel convenient, but mixed-use security, lifts and lobby circulation can affect arrival. Coach and learner should plan enough time for the correct entrance and access process.
Singapore lightning and heavy rain require prompt suspension and movement to approved shelter. Written terms should explain who makes the stop decision and how weather, lift disruption, maintenance, denied entry, closure and late arrival are handled.
Fees, cancellations and SwimSafer preparation
Fees depend on duration, format, participant count, instructor match, travel and access requirements. No Uptown @ Farrer-specific price is invented. Review the fees and rates guide and request a written quotation after private-residence access appears feasible.
Terms should cover illness, weather, maintenance, notice periods, credits and package expiry. Payment does not grant management approval or exclusive pool use.
Lessons can build confidence, strokes and water-safety skills relevant to SwimSafer preparation. Uptown @ Farrer is not represented as an official assessment or certification venue.
