Van Holland Swimming Lessons for Kids and Adults

Van Holland Swimming Lessons

Van Holland is a completed freehold residential development at 186–190 Holland Road in District 10. URA records completion in the second quarter of 2024 under KBD Holland Pte Ltd, while the original project materials identify 69 homes.

The brochure identifies an elevated first-storey Infinity Lap Pool and Children's Pool, plus a separate Panoramic Sky Pool at the Sky Garden serving Blocks 186 and 188. Jacuzzi Spa facilities and a rooftop Aqua Gym are separately labelled and should not be treated as ordinary lesson pools.

Quick answer

Residents may enquire about private or compatible small-group swimming lessons for children, adults, ladies, beginners and swimmers seeking stroke improvement. The Infinity Lap Pool is the clearest default for conventional instruction, subject to management permission, access and an on-site assessment.

The Panoramic Sky Pool requires checks of access, depth, wind exposure and shared use. The Children's Pool may suit some beginners; the Jacuzzi and Aqua Gym have different purposes.

Understanding the pool facilities

Infinity Lap Pool

The original brochure places the Infinity Lap Pool at the elevated first-storey landscape. A contemporaneous EdgeProp report, quoting the project team, described Van Holland's two principal pools as 26m pools. The brochure itself does not print a length beside the facility label.

The lap pool may support water confidence, stroke development, turns and fitness repeats. An instructor should verify the completed route, depth signs, entries and exits.

Neither “lap” nor the reported 26m length establishes competition certification, lane markings, starting blocks or exclusive training space.

Children's Pool

The Children's Pool is identified separately from the lap pool. It may suit bubbles, face immersion, supported floating or short beginner movements when its completed depth matches the child's height and confidence.

Its name does not prove a uniform shallow depth or suitability for every child. Active supervision and current depth signs remain essential.

Panoramic Sky Pool

The brochure places the Panoramic Sky Pool at the Sky Garden, alongside the Sky Club, Sky Gourmet Pavilion, Jacuzzi Spa 2, Aqua Gym and an outdoor shower. Access appears associated with Blocks 186 and 188 and should be confirmed for the enquiring resident.

An elevated pool may experience stronger wind, glare or weather exposure. It may support swimming only when permitted and suitable for shared use.

Jacuzzi spas and Aqua Gym

Jacuzzi jets, seating and warm or turbulent water can interfere with balance, breathing and communication. The Aqua Gym may contain exercise features or a layout intended for water fitness.

These facilities should not substitute for the lap pool. Specialist therapeutic or aqua activities require appropriate qualifications, individual assessment and specific permission.

Lesson options

Kids swimming lessons

Children can develop safe entry and exit, breath control, floating, kicking, recovery skills and age-appropriate stroke foundations. The coach should select the Children's Pool or lap pool according to height, confidence, ability and verified depth.

Parents should disclose relevant medical, sensory or communication needs. Progress varies, so no fixed number of lessons should be guaranteed.

Adult beginner lessons

Adult beginners may work gradually on breathing, balance, floating, recovery to standing, propulsion and coordinated movements. Private coaching can provide individual pacing and focused feedback.

Tell the instructor about injuries, restrictions or difficult water experiences. An unsuitable depth or layout may require a different venue.

Ladies swimming lessons

Learners may request a female swimming instructor for comfort, privacy, cultural preference or safeguarding considerations. Assignment depends on timing, estate access, location coverage and availability.

All pools remain shared residential facilities. A female-coach request does not create a private or women-only environment.

Stroke correction and fitness

Water-confident swimmers may work on freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, body position, breathing, turns, pacing and efficiency. Distance-based sets should use the measured completed route, even though a contemporaneous project report described two 26m pools.

The coach should yield to residents and adjust drills if steps, leisure traffic or edge design interrupt the course. Neither pool should be represented as competition-standard.

Private and small-group formats

Private lessons provide focused feedback. Small groups may suit residents with similar ability and objectives.

Group size must comply with estate rules and preserve safe sightlines. Moving a mixed-level group between first-storey and rooftop facilities would add supervision and access complexity and should generally be avoided.

Resident and management checks

Before paying for recurring lessons, ask the managing agent or MCST:

  • whether external swimming instructors are currently permitted;
  • whether identification, registration or insurance documents are required;
  • whether a resident must register, escort or remain with the coach;
  • which pool and hours may be used for instruction;
  • whether all residents can access the Sky Garden pool;
  • whether teaching aids are allowed;
  • whether booking or a facility fee applies; and
  • how closures, complaints and busy conditions are handled.

Written confirmation is preferable where policy is unclear. SwimmingClasses.sg and an assigned coach cannot override security procedures or estate by-laws.

Multi-level access and supervision

The first-storey and Sky Garden facilities are on different levels. Learners should not move between them during a session unless the route, access rights and supervision plan are clear.

Children must walk on wet surfaces and remain supervised around lift lobbies, decks, waterfalls and leisure facilities. Decorative waterfalls and gardens are not swimming areas.

Scheduling and shared-pool etiquette

Observe the intended pool at the proposed lesson time before selecting a weekly slot. Actual usage should be checked rather than assumed.

The instructor should occupy only the space needed, keep equipment tidy and preserve access to steps and decks. A session may need to pause, relocate or finish if resident traffic makes instruction unsafe or disruptive.

Weather and safety

Outdoor lessons must stop during lightning warnings and whenever rain, wind, glare or poor visibility creates unsafe conditions. Rooftop exposure may differ from conditions at the first-storey pool.

Follow on-site announcements immediately. Maintenance, water treatment or resident events may close a facility, so agree on cancellation and rescheduling terms before payment.

Fees and booking expectations

Fees vary by private or group format, duration, learner level, frequency, instructor experience and travel requirements. Request a current quotation explaining package validity, payment timing, cancellations and any assessment charge.

Confirm management approval before purchasing multiple lessons. Several pools do not automatically provide an authorised coaching slot.

SwimSafer preparation

Families interested in SwimSafer may ask whether the instructor offers programme-aligned preparation and where formal assessment takes place. Van Holland should not be described as an official SwimSafer assessment venue unless independently verified.

Frequently asked questions

How many swimming pools does Van Holland have?

The brochure identifies an Infinity Lap Pool, Children's Pool and separate Panoramic Sky Pool. Jacuzzi spas and an Aqua Gym are also listed but have different purposes.

Are the lap pools 26m long?

A contemporaneous EdgeProp report described two 26m pools based on project-team information. The brochure does not print that dimension, so the completed usable route should be verified.

Can children learn in the Children's Pool?

Potentially, if management permits lessons and the completed depth and layout suit the child's height, confidence and ability.

Can lessons use the Panoramic Sky Pool?

Only after access rights, management rules, weather exposure and completed conditions are confirmed.

Can a non-resident instructor enter?

Only if current visitor and facility policies permit. A resident may need to register, escort or accompany the instructor.

Can I request a female instructor?

Yes, subject to availability, access approval, timing and location coverage.

Evidence and review note

Completion and developer identity were reviewed against URA's 2Q 2024 completion annex. Pool names, locations and distinct facilities were reviewed against the original Van Holland brochure. The two-pool 26m description was reviewed against EdgeProp's contemporaneous project report on 26 August 2026. Current coaching permission, completed depths, exclusive lesson space and competition certification are not established.
